Lethrinops sp."longimanus likoma"


Lethrinops sp."longimanus likoma" is mainly living above sandy, muddy bottoms on an average depth of 20 meters however when itīs mating time they go to the intermediate zones from rocks to sand. This species can be found in the neighbourhood of Likoma Island and Mara Point in Mozambique.


In the lake the males of these species can grow to 10 cm, in the aquarium however they can grow a little taller because of a good feeding. The males can then grow to about 11 cm, females grow to about 8 cm.


Lethrinops sp."longimanus likoma" is searching the muddy bottoms for food; they are probably living of the invertebrates they find in the sand after jigging this. You can best keep this species with multiple females in a large tank with a lot of swimming space. It`s a quiet, peaceful cichlid which can be hold best with other quiet species from equal environments.


In the aquarium they are comfortable with any food. They take everything they get offered, like spirulina pellets, mysis, artemia, cyclops and shrimp-peas mix.
